I need to get myself ready for work so I’ll keep this brief but I wanted to keep you guys updated on the state of the hiatus.
Yes, you heard me right, work. I got myself a job in a petrol station. It’s not going to be easy but there’s a good support network so I’m hoping it won’t break me. This means the part time uni course I had been considering isn’t possible but the English course wouldn’t have been running anyway. I’ll be working shifts on my own so I won’t have time for reading or relaxing at all during shifts, we don’t even get breaks, though we are allowed to eat during shift as long as we’re sensible with it, i.e. not chewing in the general direction of disgruntled customers.
Previous to starting last week, my anxiety was awful. I’d had a second panic attack and was freaking out. My doctor upped the doseage of my meds and that seems to be under control now but the depression’s come back. Sigh. So I’ve been feeling a bit miserable and even a little suicidal (for want of a better word, I never went as far as wanting to act on it THANKFULLY) but I’m finding new ways to cope with this, and one of those is reading! Yesterday, I finally finished a book. It was About A Girl by Lindsey Kelk which I’d got about halfway through back in June and then found myself unable to read for 3 months and I sat down for several hours and devoured the rest. It was wonderful and relaxing, so I’ve lined up a few chick lits because right now I need some cheerful, sweet, charming reads to take me away from my own mind before I go back to the doctor next week.
I am hoping this signals my return to reading love and that hopefully, very soon, I’ll be ready to start reviewing and sharing my thoughts and experiences with you guys again.
There’s also a little secret project on the horizon which I will share with you in good time.
In the meantime, the hiatus is still ongoing and I am still not accepting review requests or guest content requests because I just can’t get around to them right now. Bear with me!
