I haven’t properly been able to take part in a read-a-thon for aaages. I’ve had work, burn out, Christmas and all sorts to contend with so it’s with much delight that I can say I’ll be participating in the Wicked Valentine’s Read-a-thon! 
My Goals:
I’ll be reading The Black Company by Glen Cook which is the current book club read on the Fantasy Faction forums. If I finish that, I’ll be starting A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin, book 3 of the Song of Ice and Fire series

13:53 – Spending my day playing a little WoW though I did read a whole page earlier! Will hopefully head to bed early tonight and read a fair chunk of The Black Company then assuming I don’t fall asleep, shattered today for some reason.1
21:13 – Okay, considering going to read now. Maybe. Having a little bit of an off moment. I’ll get back to you.
00:15 – No, it didn’t work out. I tried but I zoned out. 
Tomorrow will be better! I’ll sit and read a couple of chapters of The Black Company, if by that time I’m still struggling I shall move on to Storm of Swords.

13:16 – I last night ending up going to bed at 2am after playing Ni No Kuni for a bit (the new Ghibli game, it’s gorgeous) and reading a few more pages. Maybe I won’t be abandoning The Black Company after all. It is very good the writing style just throws me off a tad. I plan to read more in a little bit.
01:01 – Mmkay, so as planned I didn’t spend the day reading. Yet again. So that plan is now on for tomorrow! The laptop and cable is in the bedroom as a precautionary measure. 
Around 9-10pm I put Ni No Kuni down (yes, again. It was my Christmas present and I want to get to the good bits!) and decided to go read only… I had a splitting headache so instead I took an Ibuprofen and popped into WoW for a couple of hours. Now the headache’s hibernating so I’ma finish up on the internet and read a teeny-tiny bit before sleeping. Tomorrow, people! 100+ pages. I’m going to need hard stares and poking stick threats. The whole nine yards. And it has to be during the day because night times on Saturdays all I can hear is drunks outside the flat. Yep. Fun times.

15:31 – I read 1 page yesterday? Christ, that barely counts! Going to need some serious motivation now. I’m 2 books behind on my Goodreads reading challenge and need to give this book a good go before I either move on or finish it.2

13:20 – I’m not doing so well being a read-a-thoner this week! Reading for maybe an hour at most each day. Woops. I’ll keep going but can’t guarantee I’ll get any better. I have been considering starting a second book to mix up the genres a bit though.3

I’ve always heard good things about The Black Company, but have never gotten to it. I’m a little ways into rereading A Storm of Swords; reading a couple chapters a week. That’s the only way I can manage a big ol’ fantasy series.

It’s good once you get used to the odd writing style. As for the books and the show, I keep having to postpone the show to catch up on the books!!
I had plans to spend 4 whole days reading but I have spent so much time faffing online, playing iPad games and catching up on TV. I wasn’t even on official readathon duty and the curse still struck!
